My take: AI will master the 'well-posed' parts of the job—the tax modeling, the legal boilerplate—with ruthless efficiency, but a family's legacy is not a well-posed problem. It's a gloriously messy, human one.

Adrian Tchaikovsky is a victim of his own genius. The Hungry Gods is a sharp, entertaining allegory that, for any other author, would be a triumph. For him, it’s merely very good, lacking the world-building novelty of his best work. Still, no regrets giving this novella my time.
